Looking for and choosing your wedding photographer is one of the most important decisions that you will make before your big day. It may seem like a straightforward decision, but there are many things to consider when choosing your photographer. For example, it’s not enough to simply hire someone with good reviews and take their word for it. You need to know if they are right for you!
Here are some questions that can help you find the perfect wedding photographer for YOU:
Do they have a style that I love?
Your wedding photographer’s style is probably the most important consideration when choosing them. Do their photos reflect your personal taste, or are they more traditional/formal? Do they prefer to shoot in black and white or color? It’s important to find a photographer whose style you love, you will be looking at their photos for many years to come. Don’t forget to ask questions about their style as well. Most photographers can easily adapt to your suggestions, as they’ve likely done it before!
Do we share similar personalities, interests, or backgrounds?
Although you don’t need to be best friends with your wedding photographer (well, it definitely helps if you can!). It makes things flow much better if you share some similarities, especially in personality. This will make your special day run smoothly and increase the chances of getting natural-looking shots.
Do I feel comfortable around this person?
Your wedding photographer will be with you every step of the way on your wedding day. They are often all over – taking photos before, during, and after the ceremony; capturing candid shots throughout the night; shooting both group and individual portraits, and many more. This is why it’s important to make sure that not only do they have great technical skills but also that you feel at ease around them.
But of course, you wouldn’t know this if you are not close with the photographer beforehand. That said, a tip would be to check their Google reviews to see what their past clients have said about them. This way, you can feel an initial check of the vibe of the photographer before your first consultation!
Do they have a good attitude?
You would want someone who has a good attitude that will rub off on you and your wedding guests. They should be friendly, helpful, and considerate of others’ needs (for example, if family members are constantly asking for photos to be moved around). You want someone who will be easy to work with and make your wedding day enjoyable!
Do I like the photos on their website?
Your wedding photographer’s website should give you a good idea of how they work. Take some time to browse through their images, and make sure that this is the style you are looking for. What do you like about their photos? Are there any photos, in particular, that stand out and show off your personality? If so, these may be the images that you want them to capture on your big day.
